I remember going to the Dora Marr sale of work by Picasso and being struck by the childlike quality of quite a large proportion of it. I am impressed by children’s art when it is spontaneous. In September Oxfordshire Limited Edition, I have a feature on a unique exhibition of art work by children from East Oxford Primary School. Their vibrant and brilliant pictures are being enjoyed by residents at St Luke’s care home. You can see their work and read about it here.St Lukes Art Project
Seeing it reminded me of the amazing children’s art competition run by the Ashmolean in 2008 when it was being rebuilt. I had the privilege of reviewing that too. http://m.oxfordtimes.co.uk/news/2025803.Children_s_art_competition_at_the_Ashmolean_Museum/
As well as Weimin He’s 50 amazing works of art and my poem, for another few months you can enjoy children’s work on the ROQ hoardings on Walton Street.
I love watching my grandchildren absorbed in art.
